Chrome and cat-eye

Two finishes that make a nail look like metal or light moving inside stone. They suit anyone who wants a nail that catches a lamp, on short natural nails or a longer set.

Chrome is a powder buffed onto the surface. Cat-eye is a magnetic gel pulled into a line of shimmer. Both show up most over a dark or saturated base, and both are built in thin layers, so they're booked as a block of time rather than a quick polish change.

What happens at the visit

A chrome or cat-eye finish takes about 75 to 90 minutes on its own, and longer over a full set.

  1. 01

Step 1: Choose the finish and base

We settle the base color, the finish and the length with you, from your reference or from our finish index.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Prep and color

We shape the nail, tidy the cuticle and cure the color layers under the lamp.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Build the finish

Chrome powder is buffed on, or the magnet pulls the cat-eye line, then we check the light from a few angles.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Seal and finish

A last sealing layer cures, we wipe the nails clean and show you how to look after them at home.

What sets the time and the price

Three things move a chrome or cat-eye set

  • The base

Natural nails take the least time. A full soft-gel set adds shaping and building before the finish goes on.

  • The color and the finish

A single powder color is quick. Two-tone chrome, a color fade or a cat-eye in a second shade adds layers.

  • Art on top

Lines, charms and hand-painted details are timed by level. The design guide shows each one.

Removal and aftercare

Looking after a finish

  • Book removal first

If your nails were done elsewhere, book removal before your set, so we can start from your natural nail.

  • Don't pull it off

Picking at gel or chrome takes layers of your natural nail with it. Book a removal and we'll soak it off gently.

  • If a nail lifts

Tell us within a few days and we'll make it right. A small repair is quick and we keep a chair for it.
