Jericho opened Shimmer for friends on night shifts who could never find an artist awake after midnight. He does the chrome and cat-eye sets himself.

Shimmer is a four-artist studio for chrome, cat-eye, holographic and glazed finishes. We stay open late for dealers, nurses, line cooks and everyone whose day starts when the sun goes down.

Four ways to catch the light
Each finish goes over color on your own nails or a soft-gel set. Pick one, then choose how much art goes with it.
- 75–90 min
Chrome
A fine powder buffed over gel color until the nail reads as polished metal. Silver, gold, rose or a color of your own.

Cat-eye
A magnet pulls a line of shimmer across dark gel, so a bright band moves as your hand does. It reads brightest on a dark base.

Holographic
A fine rainbow sparkle that shifts from pink to green to blue under a light. Soft in daylight, loud under a lamp.

Glazed
A sheer, pearly wash over a bare or pale nail, with a soft glow. The quiet finish, and the quickest.

Why it takes a while
A finish is a few thin layers
Chrome and cat-eye are built slowly: color, then the finish, then a seal, each cured under the lamp before the next.
That is why we book each set as a block of time with one artist, and why we ask for a reference picture before you arrive. You get a set made for your hands, not a shade pulled off a shelf.

Sophea Chea
Senior artist, soft-gel extensions and repairs
Sophea builds the longest sets in the studio and the quickest repairs. If a nail breaks mid-shift, she's who we text.
Dariel Barcenas
Artist, cat-eye and hand-painted art
Dariel works with magnets and fine brushes, and likes a reference picture with one odd detail to build a set around.
Manal Khalife
Artist, holographic and glazed finishes
Manal takes the quiet end of the menu: glazed and holographic finishes on short, strong natural nails, finished to catch the light.
